Hello

My name is Gareth Howlett and I am a PIP candidate for Thundersley North ward.

I was born and raised in Thundersley and have lived in Castle Point for most of my life. I currently work as a team leader in the utility industry. I am married and we have two children who both attended local schools. I live near The Common in Thundersley North ward and love the area, in which I grew up. I played for Thundersley Rovers football club from the age of 6 until I was 40.

I want to help the local community and continue the great work achieved by the party’s policy to protect all the green spaces and the wildlife we have locally. But more importantly, be Local People for Local People.

My promise to you is, to be honest, and be an independent voice to represent the Thundersley North residents.

I was elected as a Councillor in May 2023 and have thoroughly enjoyed my role so far. I am part of the environment and DMC committee which deals with bigger planning applications, and enjoy being involved in this. I have taken pleasure in meeting residents and helping with a wide variety of issues such as welfare, lights, drains, trees etc. I believe the smaller issues are just as important as the big ones. I was also overjoyed to organise the new sign/replanting of the Marie Curie field of hope.

I would like the opportunity to carry on doing my best, and my promise to represent Cedar Hall residents, to be honest, a voice for local people and fight to save the Green Belt of which I am passionate about.
