Hello
My name is Rob Lillis and I am a PIP candidate for St Mary's ward.
I have lived in Benfleet nearly all of my life, as has my wife Mandy. We have two children who both attended the same primary school here that I did. My mother and my wife’s parents both live in our Borough. I lived in St. Mary’s ward when I was younger and for the past 17 years on Mill Hill in Boyce ward. I presently run my own banking consultancy company, having worked in banking for several years beforehand. In the past, I have been a school governor, a tutor, a member of various community and fundraising groups and helped run a local boys’ football team for ten years.
A founding member of Residents Against Glyders Expansion (RAGE), I have campaigned to preserve this area of Green Belt from development. I am fully committed to helping save our Borough’s Green Belt by getting the right Local Plan in place, that we residents both want and need.
I was truly honoured to be elected as PIP councillor for Boyce ward in May 2023. The fact that so many of my fellow residents put their faith in me (and PIP) was very humbling.
I presently represent PIP on two of the Council’s committees:
Development Management Committee (DMC)
Environment Policy and Scrutiny Committee
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as councillor, though of course it has its challenges. I take this opportunity to thank all of my wonderful PIP colleagues for their constant help and support. Under the excellent leadership of Cllr. Warren Gibson, I am convinced that we can continue the good work that we are doing on behalf of the residents of our Borough. I welcome very much the fact that the Local Government Association (LGA) notes that the present administration has made significant progress in transforming Castle Point Borough Council. There remains a great deal of work to do, but the report from the LGA clearly shows that we are on the right track.
Every decision taken by our local council should always be in the best interests of the community they are employed to serve. This remains at the forefront of my mind in all that I do.
PIP stands for everything that I believe in; honesty, transparency, accountability, and normal local people (like you and I) listening to and representing the residents.
My sincere thanks for your continued support.
